Our plantation shutter recipe, engineered in Orange County since 1987
Dave and John are both engineers, and they design every shutter with you, choosing the material window by window. Wood for most rooms. Poly for bathrooms and wet areas. And Polylux, a hybrid our owners engineered and only our factory makes: a real wood frame with moisture-resistant louvers, built for homes near the ocean and large windows.
Wood and Polylux get our ten-step finish in our own spray booths. Side by side, even our owners have trouble telling Polylux from wood. Every shutter is truly custom, built in Lake Forest and installed by our own finish carpenters. A recipe only a local manufacturer can follow.
“Polylux is the best of both worlds. It has the strength and finish of wood, with the water resistance of poly as an insurance policy.”Dave Harris, co-owner and engineer

What makes plantation shutters truly custom?
In 39+ years and 60,000+ Orange County homes, we've learned most homeowners assume every shutter is custom. Most are made-to-measure: cut to size from a standard layout. A truly custom shutter covers all six principles:
- Capability: built to fit around trim, sills and obstacles
- Shape: shaped perfectly to any window, including arches and sunbursts
- Design: designed with the owners, down to the details, including inside or outside mount
- Material: chosen window by window: wood, poly or Polylux
- Finish: a finish fine enough to make it truly custom
- Installation: fitted on site by finish carpenters
We're experts in all six.
